Bryan Winch - Trustee
An introduction to Paul Glover (Chairman of Trustees and Co-Founder) and Brian Green (Trustee and Trust Secretary) in March 2007, led to Bryan being appointed as a Trustee in April of that year. He was extremely moved by the plight of the young patients with cancer and agreed to support the cause in a practical way. Along with Paul and Brian, he helped to create the strap line for the JGT, “real help for real heroes”.
Although he has not personally experienced the trauma and tragedy of having a terminally ill child, Bryan has a natural empathy with children and young people, and is currently experiencing the ‘empty nest syndrome’ along with his wife, Lavinia, as the youngest of their three children has recently left for University. Their only daughter, Tanya works for the breast cancer charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer as Celebrity and PR Manager.
Bryan’s career has been in sales and marketing for the food industry. Working for Sainsbury’s and Marks and Spencer, and currently for the leading European grower of speciality salads. As Sales and Marketing Director for the Hampshire based Vitacress Salads he promotes the nutritional benefits of ‘superfoods’ such as Watercress, Baby Leaf Curly Kale, Rocket and Spinach.
In 2003, at the tender age of 52 yrs, Bryan, who had never run more than a few miles, ran the London Marathon for The Rainbow Trust, promising that he would return to better his time of 4hrs 20min. However, good sense got the better of him, and his running these days is restricted to the tennis court. Other passions include sailing, ski-ing and playing guitar.
