Making An Application

In the first instance, applications are currently made through the relevant team at the specialist regional children’s cancer ward, Piam Brown, at Southampton General Hospital.

As many of our trustees are parents of children with cancer and have spent a considerable time with sick children on the ward, we know what help parents need. Extra expenses are incurred by families that are almost impossible to budget for. This is particularly hard for self-employed parents. The news that your child is seriously ill is difficult enough to cope with without the situation being made worse by financial worries.

A strain on finances can also cause extra stress and pressure on the family unit, none of which helps families concentrate on what they need to - their child's health and recovery process. The grants we provide offer real help against this financial situation and enable the family to focus all their efforts on their child.

At Piam Brown, the Consultants and Social Workers provide a vital link between the charity and the family. They work closely with the family to determine what kind of problems they are enduring and when financial support is essential, making them ideally placed to refer funding requests to us.

All final funding decisions are impartial and non-judgemental and made with the interests of the ill child as the primary consideration in any final decision.
